Rego AWS Scheduled Job Cleanup

What?

After transitioning to Rego’s AWS, SaaS users may notice a new job called z_Complete Jobs Cleanup.  The job uses the out-of-the-box job called Executed a Process to initiate a process named Scheduled Jobs Cleanup.  This job is executed by Rego during the provisioning process.

Why run the Job?

After time, and especially after environment refreshes, the scheduled job log table can be left in an inconsistent state.  Records can be orphaned that can cause scheduled jobs to remain in a scheduling state and not process according to their defined schedule.  The Scheduled Jobs Cleanup process removes these orphaned records and allows scheduled jobs to begin processing again.

Future State

Rego recommends leaving the job in a scheduled status to help keep the job scheduler healthy.  The job is very efficient, typically executing in less than a second.  As such, no additional load is anticipated on the application or database.  Clients wishing to do so can cancel the scheduled job, or remove the job entirely recognizing this may result in cases where jobs become stuck.
